Emberwood Cabin

Cabin Retreat in the Suffolk Woodlands

Emberwood Cabin is a commissioned design for a client in Suffolk. My design proposal includes concept design, spatial coordination and 3D visualisations. The design incorporates the clients requirements and is inspired by the Japanese principle of shinrin-yoku (forest bathing) offering a connection to the surrounding forest, this design combines the charm of shou sugi ban, the traditional Japanese technique of charring wood with the warm tones of a corten steel roof. The floor plans are designed in line with the client’s requirements for an open plan space that compliments the light and shadows of the surrounding woodland.

This project is a design proposal for a client who is planning to build multiple of these cabins within a forest as cabin getaways.
